Padang-Padang Beach is a truly lovely beach with a big surf break offshore. It is located in the Bukit Peninsula, the southernmost point of Bali, Indonesia. Padang Padang Beach is very popular from 10am on, therefore make sure you get there early before the noisy crowd spoils the view and the locals setting up their stalls ruin the quietness.
As you arrive there early morning you will have time to enjoy the surfers meters off the coast waiting for “the wave”, locals fishing on the rocks, monkeys having their beach time.
Tip: By the time people are filling up the beach hit the road and drive south to the Uluwatu Temple for a breathtaking view from the top of a cliff.
How to get there: The best way to go around Bali is by motorbike, most of them are equipped to carry surfboards. Alternative is Taxi.
Must do: Sip a fresh coconut to keep cool!
Fun Fact: Julia Roberts was at Padang-Padang Beach for the movie Eat, Pray, Love
Warning: The access to the beach is by climbing down many steps (through rocks also) and you have to climb back up when you leave!
Where to Eat: In case you don’t mind the crowd you are down at Padang-Padang to enjoy the sunset, make sure you stop for dinner at Trattoria Uluwatu Bali.
Surfcamp: Kima Bali Surfaris takes its students to Padang Padang as well as some other amazing breaks in the area.
