Just 1km from Koh Tao, Koh Nang Yuan is actually a close-knit group of three tiny islets connected by a causeway of fine white sand. is This is one of the best snorkeling spots in Thailand. The shallow reefs surrounding the island are lined with intricate soft and hard corals as well as schools of tropical fishes; you can easily swim off the east side of the causeway to snorkel over the Japanese Gardens.
It is the perfect destination for a day trip from Samui or Tao, but you can also decide to stay on the island only resort, however it is a bit pricey.
How to get there: Koh Nang Yuan is just a 10-15 minute journey from the west side of Koh Tao. There are advertised speed boat times and mega-catamaran Lomprayah offers a package day trip, but the cheapest and easiest option is to charter a longtail. The cost is 200 Baht roundtrip.
What to know:Koh Nang Yuan is privately owned and visitors are charged a 100 Baht entrance fee in order to step foot on the island.
Tip:Stay away from the wet season, from September until November due to the Northeast monsoon.
