The Baths – British Virgin Islands

Located on Virgin Gorda – so named because this British Virgin Island resembles a large reclining woman - The Baths beach is one of the most peculiar in the Carribean. Expect to take lots of photographs as the scenery is incredible, with the crystal-clear water and awe-inspiring granite boulders, which form sheltered sea pools on the beach’s edge. If you are staying on any other Virgin Island, consider Virgin Gorda and The Baths for a fabulous day trip – sail from your hotel and snorkel from boat to beach.

Just north of The Baths, Spring Bay is reached by a separate road and includes a lovely white sand beach.

HOW TO GET THERE: Tortola is the main island in BVI and the main point of entry. Scheduled daily flights into Tortola’s Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport are available from San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Martin and Antigua.

WHERE TO STAY: at the Rosewood Little Dix Bay , a five-star resort with its own fantastic beach.

TIP: Check beforehand and avoid the area when a cruise–ship is docked, as it will be overrun.
